You may have heard news stories about the TN Renaissance Festival and the recent purchase by Williamson County Commissioners. The commissioners and news stories will tell you that the Festival was donated to the County. Please read the resolution and decide for yourself.
If the Festival was donated, why didn’t the Commissioners decide to use land we already own – like the Ag Center-where we run the Williamson County Fair? Why did we purchase land that we, as a county, can’t afford? Why did this purchase take priority over funding for school renovations or new school construction?
On page 41 of the County Commission Meeting Minutes for November 2021 (right after the resolution to issue $150M bond).
As a county, we are almost a billion dollars in debt. Currently, an average family of four is responsible for approximately $20,000 of the county's debt. As your commissioner, I will use my voice to ensure that we are using our revenue responsibly.
In 2020, the Williamson County Commission passed a new land-use plan limiting 1 house per 5 acres and reduced development in the rural unincorporated areas of the county to preserve as much of our beautiful rural landscape as possible. The next challenge we face is to work with the municipalities to limit their growth to inside their growth boundaries.
I’m a thoughtful person with a straightforward agenda. I have decided to run for County Commissioner to protect the individual liberty, property rights and freedoms of the citizens of Williamson County as well as to bring transparency and accountability to the commission. These tenants are what America was built on and these rights are not being realized.
Our democracy lives and breathes through the faith in our election process. It's important for County Commissioners to work with our Election Commission to ensure they have the support they need to ensure our elections are secure. Continuous improvement of our election process to both minimize fraud and maintain the highest level of security is imperative.
